Dear Devil
Dear Devil,
I have no idea how this spiritual warfare thing works. I have heard many different teachings from many different interpretations of the bible about it. I do not know how much we ought to credit you with when it comes to pain and suffering, and whether we ought to rebuke you or ignore you or bind you or whatever.
When I think of what has happened in the last few years, I keep thinking of Job and the unseen conversation in the spiritual realm that began his trials. I do not see ourselves as righteous people, except through what Jesus has done for us, and I do not liken our struggles to the devastation thrown on Job and his family. But like Job, our plan is and always has been to serve God and trust Him, whether we are stood firmly with our feet on the ground, or with our faces down in the dust crying out for His mercy.
But this I want to say to you today.
THERE IS NO VICTORY HERE FOR YOU.
If the death sentence that has been given to our boy comes to pass, we will be broken and devastated and our family will always feel as though it has a gaping hole in the middle of it. But God uses broken people. It will not stop us from serving God, trusting God, helping other people to find God, or teaching our children about God's goodness. And our boy will pass from the trials and pain of this life straight into the perfect goodness of life alongside his heavenly Father. At seven years old, thanks to medications that sent him into uncontrollable rages, he grasped a truth that most of us take decades to work out - that we are constantly at war with ourselves and will never always make good decisions or find internal peace unless we submit our lives to God and let Him live through us instead. So he is God's now and will remain so forever.
And if God decides to overthrow this death sentence, as Lord of life and defeater of death, and we see a miracle where no physical hope is left, the glory will all go to Him and the many many eyes that have turned to Him because of our story will see and know and spread the word that He is God.
So I will say it again.
THERE IS NO VICTORY HERE FOR YOU.
Do you hear that sound and feel that rumbling at your gates? That is the hundreds, perhaps thousands of voices, many of them strangers to me, who are praying and interceding for our boy today. They have been driven there by the darkest of circumstances and they are now opening heaven, calling angels into action and opening their hearts to the God who loves them and only needs that one invitation to change their lives and draw them closer to Him. Some of them don't even know God, but they're about to.
And watch out. Because tomorrow's Sunday - the day when the people of the Kingdom of Heaven gather together and lift up their voices to the King all at the same time. So that rumbling's about to get a heck of a lot louder.

ReplyDeleteNO victory because, oh foul and detestable one, your worst weapon has had the sting taken out of it and lies broken at Jesus' cross.
Amen!!!!!
ReplyDeleteEsther thank you for sharing your story. Battles come and we fumble around not understanding how things work, but knowing that 'There is no victory here' for the devil. Take courage, you are doing something that he is scared of. Keep going. 1 Peter 5:10-11 is a verse you may have come across I felt prompted to send it to you:
ReplyDelete'And the God of grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To Him be the power forever and ever'.
The Message version is great too. Wanted to encourage you with the 'little while'. It doesn't feel little at the minute I imagine, it feels like forever but God is on time and He's here and on His way all at the same time.
I think you are amazing and am so inspired to read this.
There is no victory here. Sending you lots of love and prayers xxx
I was about to post the verse too! Keep hold of it :) With love and prayers xx
DeleteYou have such amazing courage Esther that is a testimony to us all - we are praying for a miracle for Daniel and all we need is faith the size of a mustard seed, we believe in a victorious GOD!!! Lots of love and prayers from all at MCC xxx
ReplyDeleteJust read both your posts and & don't even know what to say ~ except that we are ABSOLUTELY part of that rumble & join with you in declaring that the Devil has NO VICTORY here ~ He should be running scared!! Ever in mine and Paul's prayers. Cx
ReplyDeleteDEATH where is your sting GRAVE where is your victory. We are walking with you in central Wisconsin USA, and your boy will be lifted in prayer by name at our services tomorrow morning. Death has NO VICTORY for the beloved of God. Ever interceding for you.
ReplyDelete-s
Thank you
ReplyDeleteYour strength and faith astounds me. I'm going to keep praying for Daniel and you all. You battle with hell every minute of everyday and you're remarkably strong and courageous. I pray God performs a miracle. I will continue to pray for you all. God Bless you all. X
ReplyDeleteIn the whole of Scripture I see no licence for any human to contend personally with the devil, either in warfare or rhetoric. Even Adam spoke with a serpent and I don't think there is any direct reference to Satan in all the books of Moses. Jesus has defeated Satan already and his fate is sealed. When all is said and done we have nothing left but to fall upon the mercy of God and, after that, to worship him as David did. It can be a cruel mercy but we have no higher authority, nor would we want one. I feel so sad - I would hate to share that with the evil one. My heart goes out to you.
ReplyDeleteI admire your resiliance and faith so much. Praying for Daniel and your family
ReplyDeleteThis is so powerful!! I don't know you or your circumstances!! But God does know you!!! I'm praying for you and your family and a blessing over your lives.
ReplyDeleteWith faith we can move mountains!! Praise God!!!
God bless
Becky

ReplyDeleteThe devil will never win over the power of love and God. Nor matter how hard he tries to hurt us our love will always become stronger and he will never take away our hearts. Daniel is truly deep in my heart and I'm fighting to keep him with me and you. I won't let him go. My heart holds the love for Daniel and I'm not ever doing to let that go. This is a battle the devil can never win. I pray so hard for Daniel. Daniel will always live in my heart until the day I cannot live x Mrs. B x
ReplyDeleteAMEN!!!! I'm drawn to that film crocodile dundee - the bit where the thug is threatening him with a sharp & damgerous knife. Mick calm as ever just says "you think that's a knife?" (pulls out a HUGE knife from his boot) "na... that's a knife!" & the enemy knows he stands no chance in the face of the truth of how big his competition is! Standing with you that God will reveal His AWESOME power, His TRUTH, His VICTORY in your circumstances! Amen Xxx (friend of Jenni Brews)
ReplyDeleteEsther my heart goes out to you and your beautiful family. Sending all our love from The Hutchings Family (i am from the multiples threads on mumsnet) xxxxx

ReplyDeleteDear Richard and Esther
ReplyDeleteI want you to know that as your words were read out today at home church, there was silence, love and many tears. Daniel and all of us are a total inspiration to me and to so many. He is so full of Jesus and radiates God's love so deeply. Being around him was a total privilege.
I love you guys
Keith

Dear Esther & family
ReplyDeleteWe do not know one another but your blog, your words, and your family have all touched my life deeply over these last few months. If there is any comfort that you can take at this time, know that God is using you POWERFULLY. Reading through this blog, the deepest cry of my heart has been: I want to know this God better. Followed by three simple words: please heal him. And I know that our God hears and understands the simplest of prayers as well as the deepest of groans. Listening to this worship song today, this chorus made me think of you:
Shout to the Lord,
All the earth, let us sing
Power and majesty
Praise to the King
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of your name!
May you know Father God's arms around you.
x
sending up lots of prayers. indeed, the devil has no victory here. God only has the power to heal and the power to bless you as daniel's parents and He will. God bless and keep daniel and you.
ReplyDeleteLord Have Mercy.... be it 'the devil' may even he come to repent if need be and obey unto The LORD, for even he i mayn't judge....but O The LORD Is Victor....prayers for all in need n God's Will Be Done, keep the faith folks!! PLGB

Dear Sister Esther,
ReplyDeleteI have gone through your letter to the enemy (Devil).I appreciate that you have a great burden for the lost souls and one thing I know that you and me are the small tools whom God is using to bring souls into His kingdom. But be sure that Lord Himself will do as He did in the Book of Acts Chapter 2 and then a heavy rush to the kingdom of God.I just believe that our Lord is not a looser but He is a victorious God.Remember "If Hell will be filled with the People than Devil will be at victory but when the Heaven (Surely will be) filled than our Father will be at Victory as he is already.Heaven is not for the mankind but for the devil and His fallen angels.Amen.
In Christ Jesus,
